Rock bands have always been drawn to the color black – maybe it has something to do with the devil – but lately the bandwagon has grown heavy. This year has seen albums released by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Dice, Black Lips and Black Francis. The Black Keys have a song on the “I’m Not There” soundtrack. To say nothing of groups like Blackalicious, Black Crowes, Black Eyed Peas, Black Flag and Black Star.

The word has been so successful, that previously established artists are adding it to their name in hopes of getting a quick boost in popularity or critical acclaim.
