The ISS Interviews Chris Sims (part 1)

by Lady Unpleasantries

Sometimes here at the ISS, we hear about awesome things going on outside of our pizza-box covered, beer-soaked headquarters. When that happens, we send someone out to see what's going on. This time, Lady Unpleasantries sat down with Chris Sims of The ISB and Action Age Comics.

So, Chris Sims. Rumor has it, (and by rumor I mean your own blog), that you are "history's greatest villain." Are you trying to set yourself up against the ISS? Because we can take you.

Against the ISS? Of course not. In fact, I attended Evil Graduate School with King Oblivion and Max Puppykicker, although I dropped out before I got my degree.

King OblivionSS-hardandfast.png is immensely curious about this, as a matter of fact. He asks, and I quote, "why not do a piece for the ISS already?"

Well, I hate to sound greedy, but it's mostly because you only pay in "Villain Dollars," which will only have monetary value in the event that you do, in fact, take over the world. And look, I'm not saying you won't? But there's a LOT of daring, highly trained special missions forces out there.

Good point. We're organizing a mutiny for real dollars that can be spent in the outside world. We'll send you the union newsletter.

Am I still in the union? I've been paying my dues with Villain Dollars.

I'm pretty sure that's been going toward the Men of the ISS swimsuit calendar.

Well, that'll be more effective than mustard gas.

It certainly will, but enough about burning retinas... tell me a little bit about ACTION AGE COMICS. How did it come about?

ACTION AGE basically came about as a writing studio for me and my partner, Chad Bowers, to come up with comics while we waited to hit the big time, and since we've been through the Golden Age, the Silver Age, the Bronze Age and the Modern Age, we figured it was time for the Action Age.

And does this Action Age include SOLOMON STONE ever seeing ink and paper?

It's a possibility. The first ACTION AGE comic was a six-page ashcan for THE HARD ONES that we passed out at HeroesCon last year, so we've done a little bit in terms of printing, but nothing major yet. If we can scrape together the cash, though, we're looking at doing a paperback ACTION AGE anthology that'll include SOLOMON STONE, MONSTER PLUS, EXTERMINAPE and maybe a few other things too.

Excellent. How is THE HARD ONES coming along, anyway?

It's coming along great. We've got an awesome artist in Rusty Shackles, and we're working on the script for the second issue as we speak. You... uh, you might not want to read it, though.

Why is that?

It's about two guys who are bounty hunters specializing in taking down super-villains. Not, er... not really your thing.

There is now a bounty on your head. After this interview, start running. Another question from King Oblivion... when writing SS-shootintheface.pngup on such great comic classics as the ANITA BLAKE: VAMPIRE HUNTER series and TAROT, do you ever get the feeling that you're just one page away from tumbling head-first into the void of madness and going on a face-kicking rampage?

Every. Single. Time.

What's stopped you?

Herbie Popnecker. It is nature's Xanax.

But wait, that's not all! Tune in to The ISS tomorrow to catch the mind-blowing conclusion, complete with insights about Solomon Stone, ISS-exclusive previews, and the many ways in which Matthew Allen Smith is psychologically tortured. It's face-kickingly awesome!

While you're waiting for part 2 of the interview, go read The Chronicles of Solomon Stone Chapter One: Night Falls on the Cosmodrome! and Chapter Two: The Deadly Doom of Dinosorcery!
