The ISS Takes on: Blackest Night

We haven't paid attention to Green Lantern comics since...ever, I guess. But even we haven't been able to avoid the promotional train for DC's ring-based summer uber-event.

According to writer Geoff Johns, this is what it's about:

The real central theme in this series is emotion. This entire series is about emotion. It's about conflicting emotion, and changing emotion, and dealing with emotion. What emotion means, what it is.
So I guess if your thing is hearing the word "emotion" repeated over and over again to the point that it doesn't mean anything anymore, and you're tired of that Daft Punk song, this would be your thing.

One can also assume from the promotional art that there's a lot of fighting going on between people who wear the colors of the rainbow -- some of whom puke blood, others of whom are titty girls (obviously, the titty girls represent love). So basically, it's a race war, but one that includes colors like green, purple, orange, blue and green. Like a box of Lucky Charms got into a big tussle with itself.

And, of course, all hell breaks loose once the black guys show up. Way to show some racial sensitivity, DC.

But the Black Lanterns are defined by being dead. Is "dead" an emotion now?

According to one of my ex boyfriends, yes, as he told me I made him feel dead inside. Then I fed him to my dogs, so he could be dead on the outside too. (I love when things match!). So death can not only be considered an emotion, as something all of my exes have in common!
