Villainy's Greatest Moments: "He's Beginning to Smell a Lot Like X-mas"

by King Oblivion, Ph.D.

Who: Robot Santa Claus

What: The murder of some kid's grandfather

When: December 23, 2001

Where: Futurama, "A Tale of Two Santas"

Why it's a great moment: "Futurama" did a lot of talking about how evil and destructive its robot Santa Claus was, but only on a few occasions, especially this one, did we get to see his true malevolence.

Fry, Leela and Bender page through a pair of letters for Santa. The first is from a girl asking him not to bring her any more stuff, since the bicycle he shot at her last year "really tore up my insides." But the second really takes the cake, as a little boy asks for a coffin for his grandpa, who Santa killed last year with a chestnut.

It's serious evil to kill the grandfather of a dumb kid who doesn't know what to do with a dead body other than to let it just sit in a rocking chair over by an open window. Robot Santa did that. And for that, we salute him.
